Games will not show up

hi there i have a really irratating problem with my new computer every time i open a game the screen goes blank i am using an hdmi connection to my 1080p tv some of my specs are
amd athlon(m) x4 640 proccesor 3.00 ghz
2 gb of ram
nvidia geforce gts 450
i would really appreciate some help and its on win 7 and some games on steam

Can you play for a while? or does it go black as soon as you start the game?
Have you upgraded your graphics card?
Have you tried running the game in administrator mode?
You can also try running the game in different compatibility.. Simple: Right Click\Properties\Compatibility\The check the box and try different modes.

its as soon as the game starts
i havent the graphics card is brand new and also the motherboard has built in which is usable as a spair
yes i have used adminastrator mode
and ive used windows compatibility service pack 2
the game ive tried repeatedly is stalker clear sky

uninstall any nvidia drivers you have and download them from the nvidia website. if your drivers are messed up you might be trying to launch those games from your built in video card which can't handle it.

i did that while troubleshooting fixed most games but i still have troubles with the stalker series i think i'll have to look up this problem

this might sound stupid but try reinstalling the game

have you tried using older drivers? my buddy was having crashing issues with black ops, so i installed an older driver and now it runs without a problem, but he's running ati and catalyst.
