Residue on hands during build

Before building my new PC, I washed & dried my hands. Then I thought: would residue from soaps/cleansers etc. on hands cause any issues with my PC?

So I overreacted a bit (ok a lot) and did an experiment. I poured out some soap, cleanser, etc. in my house, waited for it to dry, and measured the resistance of the dried residue. Everything was non-conductive when dry, except for some facial cleanser gel that, surprisingly, stayed in a gel-like state and was conductive even after mostly drying out.

Now I am kind of worried:
- what if I some of this cleanser residue was left on my hands while I was building my PC? Would it cause some kind of short?

I know this sounds crazy but I don't have much experience in this area so any advice would be appreciated. Should I just stop worrying?

You are fine! Absolutely nothing will happen resulting from your actions.

The traces (circuitry) on the boards are coated with a substance for sealing purposes. The one precaution that you should take while handling and assembling parts is to wear a grounding wrist strap.

Relax!

no,
actually water is a good conductor of electricity in that way it actual takes away static electricity from the body.Number one killer of most IC devices.

Quote:
Drink plenty of water is good way to prevent static inside human body. Drinking more water can increase the humidity of skin surface, and static electricity will not occur in the wet conditions. People should not only drink water but also moisten their skin. Hand cream in autumn and winter could not only moisten skin, but also prevent static. Of course, people could also wash their cars frequently.

Reduce the usage of chemical fiber products inside and outside the car, for it is easy to take static, especially in dry autumn and winter. Socket sleeves and foot pad of chemical fiber materials should not be used to prevent the attack of static. In a word, far away from chemical fiber will reduce many chances of getting static shock.

Polishing cars with wax is another effective way to prevent static. You can choose the special wax of preventing static. Many car owners choose to polish cars by themselves. However, it is suggested that the special wax fence could clear the surface dust and oil slick thoroughly.

Before you enter into your car, you can go to wash your hands or put your hand on the wall for a second to eliminate static electricity. When the conditions are limited, you can also put your whole hand on the car to enlarge the contact area and reduce the uncomfortable feeling of static.
