Recommend a quieter CPU fan.

I have a phenom II X4 975 BE, and i am using the stock fan. Now this fan is kinda lound when it gets to the higher speeds. Can anyone recommend a cheap fan to replace the stock fan that is quiet and just as powerful, if not more. The cheaper the better. Bonus if you can find it at microcenter, since i live near one. Thanks for the help!

I recommend scythe or thermaltake 120mm heatsink with a 4 pin fan. Check your bios to be sure the smart fan function is enabled and the settings are correct. I run my fan at around 1300 rpm, but I don't mind warm temps. I turn all the numbers down in manual or quiet mode for lower rpms.

Is cool n quiet the smart fan function you are referring to?

No. Cool and quiet is to lower the cpu speed and reduce heat. Quiet mode is only on some boards with this option under "smart fan" and is strictly for the fan rpms.

If you have about 155mm clearence from socket to side of case and only use 2 dimms, Hyper212+, if not Freezer Pro 2 rev. 2. £20 or less and will your BE with ease and lots to spare for o/c.
