C2E x6800

Hey guys,

I have a Core 2 Extreme x6800 OC'd at 3.3 Ghz.. Planning to upgrade my gfx card to a GTX 570. I game on a 1920x1200 24" monitor, as well as a 1680x1050 22" monitor.

Would my x6800 be causing me a bottleneck here??

Estimating it would not really bottleneck, core extreme can often stand on their own two feet against the i5 760.However since i cant post anandtech benchmarks since they are down, they are ok i guess.

I don't know what cooler you're running, but presuming it's anything half decent, you could definitely get a lot more than 3.3GHZ out of that.

A month ago my Asus P5WDH Deluxe died, I replaced it with a cheap Asus p5p41c board which doesn't overclock well - 3.3ghz max.... I wanted a cheap temporary solution as I'm planning to move to SB, or IB

I see. That's very surprising for an Asus board, even a cheap one - especially when you have an unlocked multiplier to play with. I suppose you needn't worry to much about bottlenecks if it's only a temporary solution, but might I suggest waiting and upgrading the lot at once?

I don't know what GPU you're using at the moment, but current games really aren't much more demanding than those of a few years ago.
