How do I turn my modem sound off?

How do I turn the sound of my modem off? this is a dumb question, but the stinkin thing is friggin loud!!! I have the modem speaker volume turned off everywhere I can find it...but I guess I havent found the magic key yet. Anybody help?

This is for Windows 2000. All the others should be quite similar, just fiddle around a little.

Control Panel>Network and Dial-up Connections

Right Click on your Connection.

Properties>Configure

Uncheck <i>Enable modem speaker</i>

Go into the modem properties in the control panel; I think you should find it there
