Hi guys,

My budget is around £1,000. I am after a Motherboard, CPU (or CPU's :D ) and RAM. I have Cosmos 1000 case and 1000W Antec Quattro Power Supply.

The main use will be running VMWare to test/play around with a few technologies. Around about 5 Virtual servers running Windows 2008 server)

Can anyone recommend me something please? I would appreciate it.

I did look at Asus Z8NA-D6 with two sockets but not sure if it would support two i7 core's. Can't seem to find a Tyan motherboard which will support i7 either (maybe I misread it!). I presume Intel is still the top dog out there?

Lastly, I don't want overclock anything, just want something really fast and stable.

Thanks,

K

Hello kam44;

You could try a Tyan S7025 and a couple Xeon X5650s. But that would really wreck your budget.

-> Keeping your budget firmly in mind to get something that should work very well for you.
