Windows Vista Ultimate ram timings

i need help with my pc's ram timings Vista installer wont get past green loading bar i have
2x2gb crucial ram sticks(240pin ddr2 dimm unbuff.p)
ASRock Wolfdale1333 -d667 mobo.
240watt powersupply
sata dvd ram (ide dvd rom if needed)
40gb seagate barracuda
2.66ghz E6750

I know it has something to do with ram timings because if i change them loading bar will either not make a pass or it will make up to 3 passes before pc reboots.

p.s memtest says ram is good........

How much free space is on that 40GB HDD before you started the install?
Reset the BIOS to default and let the MB & RAM decide on the timings.

I formatted it clean.
the motherboards default settings get about three passes (loading bar) then the pc reboots

If it boots and passed MemTest I'm thinking it's not the RAM.
40GB free space is plenty for the OS install.
Had you tried the IDE/PATA DVD yet?

Maybe try the install with just 1 stick of RAM in the motherboard.

thats how im trying to install it (i read vista wont install with 4gb)
is it a ram compatibilty issue?

I don't believe it's a comparability issue.
Usually Windows doesn't care how much is installed.

Is that Vista install disc from an OEM like HP or Dell?
Or the more usual OEM or Retail version?

Also... what service pack is that Vista install?

Its a burned disk.....(lost retail disk)

SP2 is good.
Did you do a verify the current disc after burning?
If there is any flaw in that disc you can try burning a new one;

I always thought that Vista 32 was the better choice.

Can you get access to another system, install the 40GB HDD in there and use that system to do an install test? (you can disconnect that system's HDD data & power cables just to be safe)

ive got 32bit and currently downloading 64bit just incase.
you know how to time ram (almost got in to boot) besides the disk works fine in this pc

If that burned disc was created in a different DVD burner there might be tracks that arent perfectly aligned.

I dont know but this burner is about 6 months old and hasnt failed me yet.
