Does this RAM work with this build?

I want to build a new system with a ASRock AM3 Extreme3 motherboard and a Phenom II X4 955BE CPU. I was looking at some cheap Corsair 1600Mhz memory, but wanted to make sure it would work. I know I will have to manually set it in the BIOS to 1600Mhz. Here is the RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... It says perfect match for core i5 and i7, but many people were using AMD based systems and said it works great. Do you guys think that it will be bad in the ASRock AM3 870 Extreme3 with an AMD CPU. Also, I do not think this matters, but those people were using ASUS MoBos.

Thank you for your time.

ASRock Extreme3 & Phenom II X4 955BE CPU excellent pairing.

The 'perfect match for core i5 and i7' is just marketing talk.
That Corsair RAM is a perfect match for your AMD build too.

It got 80% 4&5 'egg' rating from NewEgg customers which is quite good too.

Okay, cool. Thank you. Hey how much do you think I can sell my computer for so I can get started on this build?

System specs:

Biostar Mcp6p M2+

OCZ StealthXstream2 600w

AMD Athlon II X3 440 @ 3.5Ghz 1.5v

4gb dual channel PNY 800 Mhz RAM

SAPPHIRE hd6850 toxic edition

WD Blue caviar 500gb 7200RPM drive

and a LG burner/dvd/cd drive

Maybe $600?

I think that's a good asking price. If you're lucky you could get that.

You'll probably have to settle for less to get it sold,
especially to people that know to stop in here and ask questions.

Okay, I will try it. That is the bottom I will probably go though. I have a build set up that I really want to get, but it costs $670 and I do not have all the money in the world that I want to spend.

Okay, I will. By the way, does this sound like a good build? I have asked it on a few other forum posts. After I get my answer I just ask it to get different opinions.

New Build Specs:

Antec 300 Illusion

XFX 650w Modular PSU

ASRock AM3 870 Extreme3 MoBo

WD 640gb Black Caviar 6Gb Hard Drive

ASUS x24 DVD Burner

4gb Corsair 1600Mhz RAM

ASUS hd6850

AMD Phenom II X4 955BE

MX2 Thermal Compound

I think is sounds like a awesome budget gaming system. Do you think it sounds good?

Excellent choices. Room to expand with a 2nd HD 6850 too.
MX2 thermal compound is optional if you're using the stock AMD HSF.

How much would it cost to step up from that 640GB to the 1TB model?
That should be even a bit faster since it has higher density platters than the 640.
You can even step down to the single platter 500GB HDD and get a very slight performance boost. Single platter, higher density than the two 320GB platters of the 640.

pretty much a solid build but you can get a 6870 or 6950 1 GB for about 30 - 70 $ more improving performance and making the build more future proof

looks pretty good. I have the Antec 300 illusion too. It's a good case.
One question though, why do u have thermal compound but no heat sink?
If you don't plan on overclocking then the stock will work just fine.

Oh, okay. The 1Tb is out of my budget, but the 500Gb is like $10 less. Should I save $10 and miss out on 140Gb and grab the 500gb, or stick with the 640Gb. On my current 500Gb I have only used around 100Gb and that is probably what I plan on using. How much faster would the 500GB be? Yeah, I planned on being able to add another GPU if needed later. I cannot afford a Hyper 212 Plus cooler, so I decided to get a really nice thermal compound to keep it cooler when OCing to 4Ghz. (4ghz is only a goal and I know I do not have the best stuff to OC with) Do you know what thermal compound is better, Arctic Silver 5 or MX2?

I do plan on OCing, but the heatsink was too expensive, so I just stuck with a good thermal compound.

It's tough enough trying to get everything that I want now, so, sadly, its too expensive. Thank you for the suggestion though. It is much appreciated.

The Seagate Barracuda 500GB is $25 less.

You could measure it with a benchmark test. But without that you'd probably not notice the difference.

You can make yourself crazy trying to plan for something this early. Relax, take care of business.

And when you're ready stop back in here and we'll help you get the best system you can for what ever you can afford.

Is the Seagate barracuda very good? As good as the WD Black caviar line? I want a performance HDD. I would be buying this fairly soon, so I know what I want in it.
