Well, this is going to completely sidestep your question, but there's no way I would ever buy a GT 240. (I could be wrong, but I don't think nVidia makes a specific GT'S' 240 - maybe they use that name for OEM products...) If you're looking for a new card in that range, the AMD Radeon HD 5670 is, in my opinion at least, a much better card. Aside from having support for DirectX 11, it beats the GT 240 performance-wise by a decent margin, and can be found for the same price.

That may open up another possibility to you if you're in the market for a card of this power... just a suggestion. If not, to answer your question, I believe that they are the same thing, if the GTS 240 even exists at all. If I'm wrong, someone else will have to point it out as I don't know much about nVidia's naming being a Radeon card owner...
