Hi. I've been looking at getting a new cpu for a while now since my q8400 cant be overclocked. My mobo is a g41mt-d3 so im looking to replace that too and move to AMDs Hex Proccessor the 1090T. It's really cheap at the moment so i was wondering is the upgrade worth it? I know games wont use all 6 cores but the turbo mode and higher clock speed looks tempting.

More about : upgrading q8400 1090t

My budget is £150 to £200 and its mainly for gaming. The other AMD processors are roughly the same price but are only quad cores so I thought Id just get the one with more cores.

What do you mean - cant be overclocked?
It overclocks to 3.6 ghz with a cooler, fairly easily.

A cheap fix would be to replace just your board. Get one that allows you to OC and that Q8400 will show you what it can do.

If you want new parts, I agree with PS3hacker. That Intel build will be a lot better for gaming.
