So I was given an old Shuttle SD39P2 that does not turn on anymore and I am looking to salvage it by:
1) find a new power supply for it
2) make a few upgrades
This will be given to another friend of mine so I wanted to know if anyone has experience with these small form factor units and what parts are compatible with the case.
I know it is possible to get a 450w PSU from shuttle for ~$100 but I'm not sure if there are other power supplies I could use as an external PSU that may be able to handle higher loads (better gfx card). The power supply connectors are listed on the following page:
Pull out the old supply and measure it. Then start looking for a replacement.
If you can get a 500-550W good named brand 80+ in there then a gtx 460 may fit if an 8800 did.
If you have to take the old power supply into a store just to compare thats fine they usually dont have any issue with that,
If you find a gtx 460 try to get one that vents to the rear.
