some gt240 have ddr5 memory so that is why it is faster but that's half half, all the gt430 on newegg have ddr3 memory.

Both card is close to the performance of a 9600gt considering more than just shaders and raw bandwidth. Fill rates had a nasty impact on both cards compared to older cards but use less power. They are fit for a dedicated physx and cuda card and for those who are broke 90% of the year a slot plug till a later upgrade. The 5670 is close to the performance of a 9800gt considering the shader and occasionally the bandwidth however lack fill rates like the GT240 and GT430. I suggest going for a sure thing if you are wanting to go on the cheap and going without physx and cuda support then the 5670 will do just fine.
