i like the 1k build but if possible i would like to go a tad cheaper. I also like the 600 build but i was wondering what you would suggest for a medium in between the 2?

A middle, take the parts from the 600$ build but subsatute the CPU for an i5 2400 (200$) and an Asrock Extreme4 P67 (150$) That'll add about 130$ to the 600$ build totaling at about 730$. Do you plan to CF eventually or overclock? If not then you may want to get an H67 board instead if you don't plan to do either.

At that resolution, you may or may not want to spend the extra cash for this 6870 (200$ AR)

H67 (I'm not familiar with them so I'd have to wait and see what H67 boards come out) I think just sticking with the P67 would give you the most expandability in the future though. So just fitting the i5 2500K in would be fine, so if you ever want to OC you can or CF.

i5 2500K (230$)
