I've got a really old P3 450MHz PC which is running Windows 98 (NOT SE). We are finally going to order broadband ADSL for our house, which is very exciting as our current connection is only 28.8kbps!!! (Silly British Telecom DACS lines) I'm not very technical and am a bit scared to have to configure the old (unused) NIC which lives in this PC in order to connect to ADSL using a router. Are there any normal ADSL modems which will work with old Win98? I have got a USB connection but don't think it's USB2. The computer was built in 1998.

TIA.

Jules

Any ethernet modem will work in 98. You will need to use connection software that comes with the service because 98 does not have any sort of built in connection software. You will more than likely run into serious problems with any usb adsl modem due to driver problems in 98. Ethernet modems require no drivers, just software to put your login info in and make the connection.
