I can't really comment on the 50-60, but I know in black ops it has a 91 fps cap, and you have to go edit a config file to change that. since 91 is a random number for this not to be the case with COD4, I'd assume that it's the same.

Thanks for the replies, I think you could be right processor is unlocked with 4 cores, but my mobo's bios is confusing the hell out of me with acc | it seems to unlock and post only with certain parameters. I'm not sure what core control is but it could be set to one core, Also did a test with it as standard but still same fps

I have a suspicion it's the vista I am using is not unlocked, maybe dx drivers or catalyst might be fighting lack of sp2.

Changed up some things

-win-7 32bit
-amd x4 970

Vantage came out to 11,300 area on 1280x1024 performance test or whatever the standard trial settings are

Mw2 is now 83 fps avg.
Civ5 is 35-40 but still lagging when zooming in and out.

You download the Crossfire Application Profiles when you do driver updates from AMD right? If not that could definitely cause an issue. You might also be forcing through extra settings in Catalyst like SSAA for example which obviously could bog down performance.

Didn't know 5970 needed a crossfire profile for one card, all settings are set to software. My moboard just went out too, more changes in the house of flies:

Crosshair IV Formula
Corsair Vengeance 88824 2x4gb sticks.

Ouch how did that happen?

Well.....I dunno Im thinking I set the fsb too high, it would not post at all even after resetting the battery leaving it unplugged for an hour then coming back, switched out almost every part and psu too, everything seems fine that was moved over.

Where would I find a crossfire profile for 5970, amd.com? Also I've had some screen tearing in mafia2 but all cases of it are gone. Only seemed to happen while overclocking on the other board. I used ATI overclock utility from catalyst so i'm hesitant to rma it to sapphire since I hear they charge a ransom for an overclocked card. They are requesting I send it in.

OK so I narrowed down the problem with flickering in bfbc2 its an issue with windows 7 64 bit. Also the lockups where my processor not getting enough juice but now Its stable

A link to show 5970 performance in civ 5 being 88 min fps

GPUZ shows crossfire x disabled on the first selection and enabled on the second selection

Uningine heaven x4 AA afx16 1920x1080 scores came out to 41 fps and today they are at 37 no settings changed.

I read here:
http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/sapphire_toxic_hd5970/12.htm

that the stock for my sapphire 5970 should run 51 fps on stock I have oc to 825c and 1250 memory but the frames remain at 34-41fps
on their website the setup they used was an I7 set to 3.2 im wondering if my x4 970 is creating a bottleneck at 4.0ghz. I use dominator vengeans 88824 their timings are 7.7.7.24 on 12800.

Furmark revenge of the furry donut vs 1.9:
Running fullscreen with regular bench settings giving me a score of 5103 and on their score chart im scoring roughly around where a single 4870 would score

With gpuz ran with furmark it says my cores are drawing hardly more than 50w a peice

Also most games run but with alot of stuttering also uningine stutters often or shakes a bit. This is after I formatted and reinstalled windows 7 64 bit with minimum drivers and catalyst 11.2 fresh install. Im out of ideas besides RMA or cpu bottleneck.

Im going to RMA as long as Msi afterburn hasn't void warranty.
