Hello, when your original motherboard had SIS 655 Chip set and technician made a zillion errors upgrading and now has been told to
order the EXACT motherboard unit had in it originally with SIS 655, board has been ordered however the chip set is Intel 865PE. Is that going to be recognized properly and thus allow the External backup of C & D to be put back on the system assuming he didn't 'fry' the operating system along with the motherboard? HE seems to feel the difference in chip sets will not be an issue. Could you give me any information please? Andra Vick

Assuming you have a drivers disk for the replacement board, it should be no problem. If the computer is running Windows, it will have to be reactivated, most likely with a new serial number obtained via phone call.
