HI

i got for 4 days ago a MSI TF III 6950 PE/OC 2gb

and i have this processor

AMD PHENOM II X4 945 3.00 GHZ

most of games like

PES 2011

MAFIA II

OBLIVION

BAD COMPANY2

I was playing on a 1920x1080 monitor

their frame rates constant @ 60 FPS how the hell oblivion is equated with bad company 2

and most of other games are the same way

i was wondering if this is a bottleneck or somthing

btw there is another thing i was playing today MAFIA II suddenly the FPS dropped to 5 fps

the game was unbelievably lagging so i thought of the CPU

cuz my vga is very good i think !!!

i got

MOBO:890FXA UD5
MEMORY: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4 GB 1600 MHZ
PSU:COOLER MASTER 650 WATT

should i change my processor to PHENOM II X6 or ??

More about : bottelneck

If your frame rates are at a constant 60 FPS it sounds like you have V-sync forced on which will limit your FPS to the refresh rate of your monitor.

The sudden drop in FPS indicates to me that something may have started up, like a virus scan or an updater for a program, if its not a consistent thing its unlikely to be a hardware bottleneck as you do have a good system.

There are two ways it might be turned on, catalyst has the option to force it on which applies it to all games, many games also have it as an option in their menus, i would check catalyst first.

A 945 is plenty, you really shouldnt need another processor and a 6 core isnt going to be any better for most games since they are only using 2-4 cores anyway.

In the advanced view under gaming>3D Application settings, there is a slider under the heading "Wait for vertical refresh" make sure that is set to "Off, unless application specifies"

Note: This is as of Catalyst 11.2

Large amounts of particles will place a large load on the CPU, try turning down a physics or particle setting and it should help quite a bit.
