Hey guys,

I'm trying to build a new desktop (first time). I want to spend around $600-$900 without a monitor/keyboard/mouse etc.

Will be using for mostly gaming, watching 1080p movies and using Solidworks (CAD) here and there.

Here is what I have so far:

Processor
-Intel Core i5 2500K Quad Core Unlocked Processor LGA1155 3.3GHZ Sandy Bridge 6MB
$240

Memory
-Mushkin Enhanced Silverline Stiletto 4GB 2X2GB PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit
$43

PSU
-XFX 650W XXX Edition Single Rail Modular ATX Power Supply ATX12V 52A 24PIN 80PLUS Bronze
$80

Video card
-ASUS GeForce 460 GTX DirectCU 775MHZ 1GB 4.0GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI Mini HDMI HDCP PCI-E Video Card
$180

MOBO
-Not sure
$?

HDD
-SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
$55

Case
-Not sure.. Don't need anything fancy

Total so far: ~670 including tax

Sorry for yet another i2500K build thread but I figured I might as well ask the pros before I finalize anything. All advice is welcome - (swaps/upgrades/whatever). Let me know if you need any further details.

Thanks in advance.

If you wait 2-3 more weeks all the P67 boards will be available. Some are already in stock on newegg....they are starting to trickle in daily.

Everything looks good. For the case I would get the Antec 900 or 1200 and for the motherboard you are going to have to wait a few weeks until the new sandy bridge motherboards come out. All the other ones are on recall.

The P67 would be the best board to get from Asus, AsRock, or Gigabyte which will cost $120-$200.

Also, if you want to spend a few more dollars, you can get the 4GB 1600 Gskill Ripjaws for $49.99

statik, Why_Me, thanks, i appreciate it.

So Why_Me you think it makes more sense to go for the GTX560 rather than 460? Is it to be better prepared to adapt to SLI?

Also,

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=MB-P67-EX4&title=ASRock-P67-Extreme4-LGA1155-Intel-P67-DDR3-Quad-SLI-Quad-CrossFireX-SATA3-USB3-0-A-GbE-ATX-Motherboard

ASRock P67 Extreme4 LGA1155/ Intel P67/ DDR3/ Quad SLI & Quad CrossFireX/ SATA3&USB3.0/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard - P67 EXTREME4 ($153.99) already has the B3 Stepping Chipset included?

Do you think I should wait for the other motherboards to arrive to newegg?

Thanks!!

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-560-ti-sli-review/ <--- gtx 560 SLI review...and these aren't even over clocked. The gtx 460 is considered a middle of the road card now.

Asrock extreme4, Asus Pro, Gigabyte UD4...all in the same "range of boards" imo, so whoever gets those "revised b3 chipset" first...I would jump on it.

If I decided to go without the SLI option, what changes should be made to Why_Me's suggested build (quoted above)?
