Hello everyone,

This is my first post on this site as well as my first time to build a computer from scratch. I have had the itch for almost a year and finally decided to take the plung. If yall would please take a look at this build and offer any suggestions or problems that you might see. Thanks a bunch.

Approximate Purchase Date: As soon as all the parts are in stock

Budget Range: $1000 to $1200

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, watching movies, internet

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg

Country of Origin: US

Parts Preferences: I am a big fan of AMD and would prefer to stick with them for processors. My old AMD computer is going on 8 years old and still runs fine.

Overclocking: Maybe someday

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 (i hope to one day hook up a projector to this computer and make a room in my house a media/movie room)

Additional Comments: Would this build require an aftermarket CPU cooler?

Hello Abelinkkin;

Nice choice of parts.
Aftermarket CPU cooler not required but recommended for overclocking the CPU. It's much easier to install during the intital build than to install one later when the MB is already in the case.

You could get the X4 955 and overclock it with the stock AMD heatsink to run at X4 965 or X4 970 speeds and pocket $20.

I see you went 'old school' with the Corsair 750TX instead of the 750TX V2 or one of the newer highly rated models. Want to look at other options?

Good catch WR2.
I think that's actually cheaper atm, w/ a $30 rebate on NewEgg, and definitely a better unit.

One thing to consider if you want to use this for projector. I don't think you can turn off the LED's on the front fans in that Antec Nine Hundred case. Not a major deal, but something to think about if you want this to blend into the background a little bit.
If you want something a little more under-stated you might consider the P183v3 or P193v3 also from Antec. They don't have the bling of the 900, and they come w/ fewer fans stock, but they're a lot more quiet. Something to think over.

$710AR?

Yep - the reason it's cheaper is because if offers 8/8 instead of 16/16 on the 890FXes However u won't take a hit worth mentioning on PCIex16 gen 2.0 lanes so :p  Yep this particular board is perhaps arguably the most bang for buck for the features it offers at that price point ^^

Noticed this on the ASRock

Memory Standard: DDR3 1800(OC)/1600(OC)/1333/1066/800

I would have to OC the board to use the DDR 1600 RAM correct?
I have never overclocked before so not sure I feel comfortable doing it.

Nope - go into BIOS and manually set RAM

Here's a better case..the version 3 of that case up above, better rated psu with blue LED, and a LED Backlight monitor with a low response time of 2ms. The RAM down below has blue heat sinks that match well.
