Forum Motherboards & Memory : Memory ASUS P8P67/Memory/CPU Fan Clearance

I'm building my first PC...

Case - Cooler Master Haf922 (Blue)
MOBO - ASUS P8P67 Deluxe
Processor - i7 2600k
VideoCard - ASUS Nvidia GTX 570
Power Supply - Corsair Pro HX 850
CPU Fan - Cooler Master Hyper 212???????

My questions are......

1)If i go with the Hyper 212...should i have an additional fan on it? it should be right next to the exhaust at the back of the case anyway

2) Will the Hyper 212 clear the memory stick(i'm thinking Corsair Vengeance)?

3) Will the low profile memory sticks be a better idea so i dont have to move any fans?

4) Would it just be worth it to get 2x8gb sticks instead of 4x4GB?

5) Can this motherboard have more than 4GB per slot? I believe if I go with only two, the two blue slots have to be filled first.

Fits in the case and clears.

Ok so i guess I dont need Low Profile Memory...I thought i read somewhere the Blue slots have to be filled before the black ones do?

U can get 4x4GB - it is cheaper. $95 vs 8GB @ $120 and up...

I would get low profile as it is more compatible.

No, anyway you should get 4 sticks and u will fill all the slots.

If u get 2 sticks, than it goes to black and again black to use the dual channel.

Those RAM sticks are low profile, but still have the heat spreader.

The high profile just looks different. If u like it, get those. They will fit.

I think the P8P67 supports 8x4, its just right now there is no need for 32gb of ram and 8gb sticks are pricey. I have 4x4 and I rarely use more than 6 or 7 gigs even when multi-tasking.

OK gotcha thank you for all your help

If u want to have more RAM than 16GB, u need to have Win7 Pro x64bit and up.

32GB is great for and 3D+2D+audio+video+working with large databases.

If u are using the RAM only for gaming and everyday life, 8GB is the sweet spot : )

Also 2x4GB stick vs 1x8GB stick money wise is 30% more expensive for the 8GB stick.

I'm a music composer and I use Pro Tools. I'm too limited by this Dell from 2006 thats why I decided to build my own. I'm going from 3.5 Gb of memory to 16 so i'm sure that will be a big difference alone

Yes u will.

And u can make a RAM disc also, that will be great addition for the system : )
