Hi

I'm running a dell studio XPS 9100 with a i7-930, bought in December '10. About 2 weeks ago my CPU fan would'nt stop sounding like a jet engine no matter what I do. i havent overclocked the cpu or done anything to the computer hardware at all.

I'd like to ask whether this is a hardware problem i need to get tech support to fix or whether something else is causing this.
I've attached my realtemp and hardware monitor screencaps of my cpu temps, averaging about 80C at idle

Thanks

yeah i vaguely remember it being vaguely abrupt. i came here because i called dell tech support, and they told me to do a reformat, which puzzled me.

i checked speedfan, the overall load didnt go past 10% in 2 hours. but sometimes individual cores would spike to 30/40%
