Trying to network a few PC's together with a Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router... can anyone tell me whether it is possible to share files through this router through a home network scenario, and offer a bit of advice on how to go about this, or is this router purely for broadband?
I'm assuming that is the model that has both wireless and a built in 4port switch or whatever. The computers connected to that device will be in the same network and therefor could do any sort of network related activities including filesharing.
Make sure all of the computers have the same workgroup, that makes it easier to find them on the network. Then simply share a folder you want to be shared on the network (for winxp, right click on the folder, go to sharing and security, check share this folder on the network, hit ok). Then go to another computer, go to my network places, go to view workgroup computers, click on the computer you just shared a file on, and go right on into that file.
There are more things to it than just that but they are only put into use if the above doesn't work. If that didn't work for you let me know and I can discuss furthur things to configure on each computer.
