Hi folks,

I have a Toshibe Satellite Pro 4280 with a broken screen hinge. Has
anybody here ever had the same problem, and fixed it by himself? If yes,
could you give me an idea on how to replace the hinges. I have already
opened the notebook (i.e. removed the upper plastic body/frame).
However, I couldn't figure out how to really replace these beasts. Do I
need to take apart the TFT bezel? If yes, how?

Thanks a lot for any hints

Michael

YOu will need to take apart the lid. And the only "repair" that works
is factory new hinges. In most cases the lid is held together by 2 or 4
screws and plastic snaps. The screws are in the corners, and are
covered by either "rubber feet" or adhesive vinyl appliques. Once the
screws are removed, plastic snaps hold the lid together (sometimes as
many as 1 to 2 dozen). Undoing the snaps is an learned skill that I
don't know how to describe.
