Low Budget build - No gaming

Tom's Hardware is the best board for learning about computers. Thanks to all who post here.

A friend asked me to build a low budget system for him. He's using a Dell he bought in 1999 ( seriously ) so he needs everything.

Usage : Internet and office tasks. No gaming. The 4250 on board video should be fine.

Does anyone see anything wrong with this build ?

Suggestions on improvements or cost savings ?

More about budget build gaming
  1. One thing I would do is drop the psu down to at least the Antec EW380. Otherwise the build is good and anything else to change would be personal preference.
  2. About PSU I agree with zooted, and if you need to cut down a lot a Sempron might help.
  3. Wait for SB.They destroy x3 in performance
  4. ^^^ agreeed ^^^ :D

Thanks guys. I saved a few bucks on the PSU and bought a Corsair CX430 for $40 ( w/ a $20 rebate ) , we'll see . (mixed reviews but J Guru says ok) Picked that over the Antec 350 Basiq. The rebate cut the price in half.

Sempron to Sandy Bridge, the Sempron would do him fine, very low requirements so decided to save the $100 - $150 and stick with the Athlon II X3 450.

This will be my first AMD build, I look forward to it. Total price shipped was $640.

Newegg is fast, I ordered Monday evening and the parts were delivered within 40 hours to the East Coast.

    Thanks again
