i have a ipower x9810 with vista, running 4gb ram
i bought a extra 2gb, but wont boot with it in

its the same specs ddr2 6400 800mhz

the new ram has a timing of 5-5-5, if this affects it, i dont know

there are 4 slots, 2 orange 2 green

it came with a stick in slots 0 and 3

has anyone had this problem, or anyone have any ideas.

have already moved ram to different locations etc, but no good

Some additional tips:
(1) Sounds like you bought a single sick of ram, Should have bought 2 x 1 gig.
DDR is installed in pairs - else it will run in single channel mode.
(2) The "slowest pair should be installed in the "primary slots, normally, but not always slot 1 and 3. 2nd pair would then go in slot 0 and 3. Reason for "slowest memory in Primary slots is that if the Bios is set to autodect ram, it will default all ram to values containted on Ram in slot 1.
(3) Although there are 4 slots, some MBs require a small bump in Ram Voltage, Clock voltage and (G)Mch - Normally only a 0.05 V increase. This is to compensate for the increased load.

CPU-z (can be downloaded and installed) will show what a ram stick values are. Two tabs at top - one for what it is running at and one (SPD) for what it can run at. Verify they both can run at the same voltage level. If values are different for the different sticks. Put the slowest one (pair) in 1/3 and the faster one in 0/2. manually verify in bios that voltage is correct and timing set to the slowest one (Highest Cl numbers).
