Displayport to MiniDisplay port connector advice

Here's the problem: I have a DisplayPort on my monitor (3x 24" Dell U2410), and a Mini Displayport on my 6970. Will I need an active DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable/converter to take advantage of ATI Eyefinity, or does that only apply if you're going from DVI/HDMI/VGA to Mini-DisplayPort?
