Hey guys I'm in search of a good motherboard doesn't matte the price, that has the usual goodies but must have ports/plugs for an external eSata and Firewire.

If anyone with a good vast knowledge of x58/LGA1366 mobos would like to help me and read my lengthy introduction of myself and my problem, I thank you for any help or feedback.

I have an Alienware Area-51 and while my warranty has been up almost a year I maintain it myself. I've had an abundance of problems with it. But being an IT major and a PC enthusiast all my life I've been able to resolve them all.

Now to explain my problem today. I just spoke about this trying to help someone out with their problem and spoke about mine, but here it goes.

A few months ago my watercooling pump had a leak and would make the fan ramp up to 100% sometimes which is one of the most annoying things in the world. It literally would sound like a jet was taking off, funny thing is, it started happening right after the release of Battlefield 3. I finally found out the problem and luckily nothing else failed, but the coolant had leaked on my motherboard, I noticed a white pasty substance dried on my motherboard, PCIe-x16 slots and my 5970.

No biggy I took the quit route and actually on Black Friday went out and got a nice little Cooler Master air cooler, which actually keeps my CPU cooler than the watercooling did by about 15-20 Degrees. Could be wrong as the problem could have existed way before problems started showing.

When I got home I started to put everything together, the heatsink slipped a bit on to the cover and hinge, so I take out the CPU and with a micro fiber cloth cautiously I go to rub it off and a little piece of thread got caught on one of them pins without me noticing and when I pulled my hand out that is when the problem got worse a few extra pins got caught and bent forward. Since I didn't have a magnifying glass or anything I didn't try to fix it myself, as I've never had this problem and the architecture is different from previous CPU's/Sockets I've worked with. I left it alone and mounted the CPU back in.

Afterwards I noticed that a lot of things were taking a bit longer than usual to load checked the status of my RAM one day and noticed Win7 x64 reads 12GB of ram but says only 7.99 of it is useable. My motherboard also detects that I only have ~8000MBs of RAM. I've searched high and low for solutions tried countless amounts and finally came to the conclusion that it must be the bent pins on my motherboard. But before that I tested the RAM GSkill RipJaws, and even purchased a Mushkin Redline 12GB set and the problem persisted. I also found out that the middle slot of my 3x RAM slots was not working. I could not even go POST.

Dell being ridiculous as they are wants to charge me $729 for a replacement motherboard and of course I denied. I rather get a new motherboard with some USB 3.0 ports and SATAIII -- I have a flash drive and external hard drive that supports it. So I can keep this computer as a backup and for the house when I decide to upgrade.

I am a college student and while I'm not rich I am willing to spend what I have to, to get the best replacement motherboard that is fully compliant with the case I do have from Alienware. This is my hobby, passion, and what I live for. I love PC's and while it has been a supremely rocky road, I still venture to the best. Just to add I do plan on doing a full custom build once I see the new Ivy Bridge CPU's and nVidia's latest and greatest.

Thank you for taking the time to read this again. I know it was lengthy but I felt the need to tell you my entire story. Also I am pretty sure Dell/Alienware was not making much money with the Area-51 PC's even though they charge an astronomical amount for one compared to a custom build, that and also it was very faulty and some parts were crap. This is probably why they discontinued it. The case however with the lighting is simply amazing though.

So to come to the conclusion anyone know of a good motherboard or the best x58/LGA 1366 motherboard for an i7 960 with an external eSata and Firewire port.
