I agree, there has to be a budget. not going to waste my time giving you advice on a system that is way overboard on what you need or can really afford.

what is your technical skill? ok with case modding, OCing and Liquid cooling?

what kind of gaming? what resolution?

with no budget i am thinking a Intel i-7 990X, 24GB of Ram, 3 way SLI with GTX 580 FTW Hydro Copper 2's, with everything cooled via liquid. Pushing 3 x 24"( or bigger) LCD's running in 3D/Surround. and a 2TB OCZ Z-Drive R2 P88 PCI, BR/dvd/cd writer.

easy $14,000.

Got a budget now? :D

I'd suggest waiting for the release of Intel's Socket 2011 X68 chips. They're sure to be much faster than the 1155 P67 chips, and will be about the same price as the i7-900s were at launch.

The GTX 590 release should also be right around the corner, and would be money well spent. I believe it is a dual GPU card as well.

I don't suggest liquid cooling at first because it takes a long time to know what you need. You have to do a LOT of reading on what parts you need, how to set up the loop, etc.

(what mobo and psu could handle all that?) 14k!? seriously.. O.O?? i'd rather buy a car with that money. gtx590. ah if only money grows on trees.

That's the point I was making! I threw that out there to prove a point. the 2TB OCZ SSD card is like $8200 and yes, there is a MB that will run 4 PCIe Cards and a psu that will power them.

The liquid cooling setup will need some work, but the hardware in there is some of the best money can buy.

If we go X58, we may as well get the EVGA SR-2 an 2 1366 6-core Xeons.

sounds like an idea to me.
I'm not much for advising on liquid cooling. I know what parts you need for it and just took a SWAG based on an evga form where a guy wanted to cool his 580's in 3way sli and they were discussing parts and costs. I do know that some case modding will need to happen.

I haven't heard anything from Precision690FAN. I want to see him build it :)

I guess you missed the part where Xzibit was going to come in and figure out a way to install this system into a Hummer H2.
