6870 vs 6850

i'm upgrading my PC from a 3400 radeo to a 6850 or 6870. just wondering wich one of these cards is the best money:p erformace ratio

i also need to upgrade from my 300watt PSU to a 500-550 watt. also need help chosing one of those.

I would say 6850 cause you can overclock it more.

for a video card i personally have a 6950 but i do believe that the 6970 will in the end be a better value due to the following:

6970 has a fully enabled processor vs the 6950. I know you can flash the 6950 to a 6970 bios but their is a reason they placed the 8 pin power attachment on the 6970.

the drivers will get very good in the next 6 weeks, going from 10.10 to 10.12 gave a 4% increase in fps.

His talking about 68xx, not 69xx series.

Me, personally - 6870, not just coz i have one, but also for the extra shaders :)  And its just sooo cheap right now.

The 6850 can easily overclock to 6870 performance. If you don't overclock, the 6870 is still a good card. The 6850 would be the better bang for the buck.

i agree with that and if you can find one for $200 that seems to be the best price right now
