CPU: $139 Phenom II x4 955BE
Mobo: $90 ASRock 870 Extreme 3
RAM: $45 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz CL9 DDR3
Case: $55 Antec 300 Illusion
HDD: $60 Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
PSU: $50 550W Corsair, Antec, Silverstone, Seasonic, or XFX
Graphics: $180 (after rebate) XFX Radeon HD 5870 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) w/ Lifetime Limited Warranty
DVD: $19 Any DVD Burner

Total: $636

batchuka's build is cheaper with the Microcenter combo. I don't like mATX boards so I didn't recommend it. But it's easily the best choice if cost is prohibitive. I can't recommend a Radeon 6850 for $170 when the MUCH MUCH more powerful 5870 is $180.

If you have another $140, you could instead do an Intel Sandy Bridge Build with the i5-2500K and a P67 motherboard. It is MUCH MUCH better. With a Microcenter, you can get an i5-2500K for only $180, which is a steal.

The most cost effective build is mine with the Microcenter CPU/mobo combo from batchuka and a cheaper case. That's a juggernaut of a graphics card with a build that can handle it for about $510.

The 1st thing we have to determine is : budget - yes HD 5870 is better but if TS here is sufferin at the $48x price point as is.....no point putting on $600+ configs lol

That's why I said my build was $510. Essentially the only difference between yours and my $510 option was the graphics, HDD, & PSU.

I just can't justify the $15 between the 1TB Samsung, $10 between a 6850 and 5870, or $5 between a Rosewill 630W and XFX 650W. Of course, I'm assuming he gets the rebate on the XFX.
