hey guys.

I like to upgrade my CPU to the new intel i5 2500k. I started to learn and notice that it has to be 1155 socket. So if I get new cpu and motherboard but keep all other parts(assuming they all fit to the new motherboard) do I need to do anything else other than upgrading it hardware wise?

Like umm... do I have to do stuff in bios and things like that?

I only upgraded video card before and graphics card was easy because I just put it in to pci express slot and just had to turn on computer and only had to install driver. no complicated stuff you know

o and if I do this do i have to re-install OS?

Hello jgskpx0389;

You're probably looking at CPU, motherboard and RAM. About ~$400-$425

List all the other parts by make and model that you want to reuse in the new system.

What OS do you have now?

hey WR2.

I can get new CPU/motherboard/RAM since mine is only 4 GB.

and here are old parts I want to keep using:

video card - EVGA geforce gtx 570 SC
PSU - XION PowerReal 800watts
case - Nzxt Tempest Gaming Tower Case
cooling fan - Thermaltake MaxOrb CPU Cooling Fan
harddrive - 500 GB Serial-ATA-II, 3Gb, 7200 RPM, 16M Cache

I think that's about it let me know if I'm missing something.
