I am going to build a new pc. I am buying for first time.

I will be using mainly it to learn designing softwares like autoCAD, proE and analysis softwares like ANSYS, MATLAB.

I may add a graphic card of around 100$ like 9800gt or 250gts after some time (if it is needed).

It will be good if I can play games like PURE,crysis(low settings) or any other medium level games.

I am thinking of i3 2100 but it will come in India after one month or so.I dont know if 540 is ok or not.
I am mainly confused betn 540 and 2100.Config may be-

i3 540/2100
mobo intel h67cl -atx
2gb ram
500/320 gb hdd
500w psu
atx cabinet
18.5"/19" monitor
k+m -logitech
ups-30$

Please advice.

The i3-540 is an LGA 1156 CPU - the Intel H67CL is an LGA 1155 (Sandy Bridge) motherboard. The two are not compatible. You need to do some more homework on this. Either one is suitable but LGA 1155 is newer technology.

For Autocad and ProE, etc. go with at least 6 GBs of RAM. You will notice the difference while using commands such as 'mirror', 'copy' and 'shade' (in Photoshop).

For the hardware you have selected, 500 W PSU will be adequate. If possible, consider 650 W - I don't know what brands are available in India, but if you can get Corsair it will be good.

Consider a 1TB HDD instead of 500/320 GB. Or leave the 320 GB HDD for the OS, and add a 1 TB HDD for data, drawings, music, video, etc. (it will fill up faster than one imagines).

A 19" monitor is adequate for what you are planning on doing. Try it out at a showroom or friend's place first.

UPS depends on the integrity of incoming power and power outages. Good idea in India.

Good luck!
