How do you get the 8800GTS out of that?

The GT240 is about the same as the 9600GT. OC version on your own supplied chart show them to be slower then the 9800GT (8800GT really) or 5670. The GT240 is slower then a 9800GT, and much slower then the G92 8800GTS/9800GTX.

Well, I thought CUDA might help a little bit the old processor in other situations...

Ahhhh, no. I'll leave it at that.

To answer the OPs question it will probably work, but if we are talking about an old 350W PSU from the P4 era, I'd get a new one. First, PSUs age and will eventually fail. Cheap units when they fail could sent a big voltage spike or bad ripple down the wires and possibly fry anything its connected to. Second, P4 era PSUs are not very efficient at what they do, so you're spending extra money on electricity that you shouldn't have to. I'd probably look for a nice new 350-400W PSU just so you don't have to worry about a possibly dying PSU killing your new card.

My dad still has a bunch of his old gaming consoles. Intelevision, colecovision, C64, etc. Some still work like the C64 and colecovision. The Intelevision and Atari 2600 and 5200 no longer do. Eventually they will do, a matter a time.
