Problems with Nvidia GT240

Hi,

I have just bought Nvidia GT240 1GB DDR3 and am facing some problems with it.


1. My Games get hang in middle and i have to restart them. For eg- GTA San Andreas
2. I loose the audio of the games while playing.
3. Sometimes my screen goes all yellow and games get stuck in middle.
4. I tried playing GTA4 with this card and the game was moving really slow.

Please help me as it seems to me that i wasted my money on this card. This was the best card i could afford and chose this after doing research on your site.

My system configuration is:

Dual Core 2.4 gz
2 GB RAM
400W i ball power supply.

What is you monitor resolution? Why didn't you get the DDR5 version?

Resolution in 1280 X 1024. DDR5 was going out of my budget plus i was a little concerned about my power supply.

Well, it could be your processor? What's name of it? Change your resolution to 1024*768 and see if it gets any better. If not - it's a CPU bottleneck. Are you using XP or 7? If 7, I would recommend another 2GB of RAM.

I am using Win 7 and have updated my driver. I also formatted my system once.

The problem is not game specific. I also face this for low end games lika GTA San Andreas.

What was the performance when you lowered the resolution to 1024*768? Did it get better or was it the same?

I have cleared all my temps and checked for 1024*768. Problem still exist.

For a start your PSU is a POS. Get rid of it and get a decent one. GTA4 with that card will run slow. you will need to turn the details down quite a lot. GTA4 is also very CPU dependant. Without a fast CPU it runs like poop.

I am not very much concerned about the performance on GTA4, but is there something i can do to overcome the problems that i face for low end games like call of duty - world at war, GTA san andreas etc ?

These games get hang very often in middle and the sound gets lost too.
