  1. Is more of a personal preference thing, performance wise they're almost the same, some games the 6850 performs better while in other the 460 leads, power consumption and temperature wise they're both power efficient cool cards. The 6850 is a little bit cheaper right now though.

If you get the 460 make sure it's the 1gb model, the 768mb performs somewhat lower specially at high resolutions.
  2. If you're looking for the absolute best performance than this is your card.

The card draws slightly more power than the 6850 or GTX460, but the performance is also higher.

Scratch that, grab this. $60 promotional code, with rebate, brings this card to $199. It's the best you'll ever find for the price.
  4. Now that's a sick deal, too bad tesselation sucks on that card.

But it will perform alot better than both gtx460 and 6850 in games that don't use tesselation.
  5. thank you for the replies and suggestions!
  6. quick question about tesselation. How big of a factor is that in games like Civ 5, MMO's, etc?
  7. It only appliesd to DX11 games that use tesselation, and only with it enabled.

Currentle there are very few games that use it to an extent where the 5000 cards really falls down considerably, HAWX 2 and lost planet 2 being examples of it, along with some synthetic benchmarks like uninigne heaven or stone giant, but not much more.

CIV nor WoW or any of the most popular MMOs even make use of tesselation, though WoW does favor nvidia cards quite a bit, but that's even on DX9.
  8. ok thanks, I think I will go with that card then!
