The best card to buy is the HD 5770 for $100 after a $30 rebate. It will destroy an 8800GT. This particular card is even selling for less than the slower HD 5750.

I think you should get the 8800 GT, if the prices are so high in your area.

A 4850 is also something to consider, it is the equivlent of the 5770 and should be cheap even in your area.

If not, than the 5670 is more than plenty to max out games at your resoultion.I think even the 5570 is good enough at your resoultion.

I used to play Call of Duty Black Ops at 1280x720 and i was maxing that game out with a 5570.

In the US the best cards for around $100 are the GTS 450, HD5750, GTS 250 and HD4850. If cards are more expensive there you may have to scale back to a 9800GT or HD5670.

Reply to jyjjy

I'm sure even in pakistan the prices for the 4850 will be low.

Seriously though, @1024x768 you shouldn't even need to spend more than $70.

But something like the 5670/5750/450 are good if you intend to get a bigger monitor in the future.

Reply to purple stank

well now choice is between hd 4850,hd 5670,8800gt!!!!what to go with.make sure i will not upgrade in 2011.

Reply to mrjericho1991

4850 would be the fastest out of those and 5670 the second. If you have enough money for it,i woudl suggest to you go with the 4850.

The 8800GT is faster than the HD5670 but yes, go with the HD4850.
As with any card make sure your power supply can handle it.

Reply to jyjjy

Go with the HD 4850. If i can max out almost everything @ 1280x1024 res, surely you can max out everything @ 1024x768.

BTW, what's your PSU and CPU??

Reply to unknown_13

for the price of the HD4850 couldn't you get a GTS450 instead..?

9800gt 512mb

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] 800gt-5670

this has been answered for you 4 times in the last month >_< you usually say you're getting a 5670 then just bash ati/amd in other forums statign nonsensical things liek how "physix basically replaces dx11"

please for the lvoe of all that is holy research and understand before commenting ... and please choose a gpu already if you can afford a 5670 its probably your best bet

at your resolution i'd say 4830 or 9800 gt would be fine, heck a 4670 woudl set you in medium settings at your res

^ 4850 would be awsome for your needs if you can get one, and beats anythign you linked before

That's a great choice and can handle all games maxed out at 1366x768 resolution.(Including Crysis if you lower AA)

HD 4850 trumps the 8800GT in every scenario.

Reply to unknown_13

^ +1 and at 75 bucks a 4850 thats a helluva deal

Reply to g00fysmiley

Sounds to me like he doesn't want to go ATI.
Time to face the facts 4850 owns 8800gt no ands or ifs or buts about it just get it.

Reply to accolite

well guys 1 more thing is that 8800gt offers physx and hd 4850 offers nothing what to do then, well i have cyberon 350watts psu,i calculated my total psu requirement at newegg and got 340watt recommended with hd 4850,would that be ok?

Reply to mrjericho1991

4850 uses HAVOK ATI version of Physics processing granted its done on the cpu.

we've been through this before with all the other threads you started.
do you really feel safe being that close to your psu limits.?
instead worry about gfx first, upgrade the psu..

PhysX on a low end GPU like that is slow as hell and will limit your performance greately. The HD 4850 at 75$ is a no brainer.

And upgrade your PSU to some 400-450W Corsair.

The 8800GT is the same card as the 9800GT FYI. Physx is vaguely useful in only a handful of games. I definitely wouldn't use it as a deciding factor when choosing a video card.
I would upgrade you PSU for any card that requires an external power connector(aka all of the cards being discussed except for the HD5670.)

Just get the the 5670,it has DX11 although you won't be able to use it much for it's lack of power but it's also hastle free,no connectors and it's really cheap.Trust me i used to have a 5570 and was @1600x900 and could max out nearly any Steam Game and played crysis on med settings. At your resoultion you should have noooo problem maxing out games.

lol
This is gonna go on and on and then he will still ask why not the 8800gt.

well my psu has a six pin connector,it has total of 22amps,do i need to get a new psu because as i have a budget of $100 and if i will get hd 4850,i will have 25$ left and if i find a good used 450w psu in my area, isnt this a good idea?

Reply to mrjericho1991

Considering that PSU you can either get the GT 240 or HD 5670.The latter is slightly faster, but considering where you live the GT 240 might be cheaper. However if you do get them within your budget, go for the HD 5670.

keep gt 240 and hd 5670 out of this,i am focusing on 8800gt alpha dog edition or hd 4850.

With your current PSU, those are the only options. And I doubt that you'll find a good used PSU in your area.

Well i found a power supply named Mad Dog 430w,It has one 6 pin,one 8 pin and 1 4 pin connector,is it enough to run hd 4850?

Never heard of Mad Dog before, don't buy it. Which of the PSU manifacturers are present in your country?

Reply to unknown_13

How many amps does it have on the 12/v?
If you cannot afford a new PSU,the 5670 is still a very good choice. And is light on power. At your current resoultion the 5670 can max out every game you can think of.

Reply to purple stank

but wait,i was wondering if i could find an hd 5670,will that be able to max out everygame in dx11 with good fps?at 1024 x 768

Yes, except Metro 2033 and Crysis.

Reply to Tamz_msc

why not crysis and metro 2033?well i think i will find a new or used 400+watts psu with 24amps or more withing my range.so the final thoughts about?
HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 VS HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 VS 8800GT 512MB GDDR3 VS 9800GT 512MB GDDR3?WHAT TO GO WITH FINALLY?but again i will not upgrade in 2011 or even in october or november or even december.

Reply to mrjericho1991

Crysis, and Metro 2033 especially require tons of GPU power to play it at max settings.

If you're planing to upgrade your PSU, then the HD 4850.
If you're not planing to upgrade your PSU, then the HD 5670.

HD 5670 is 2x slower than the HD 4850, but bear in mind that you're gaming at extremely low res (1024x768) and that you'll max out half of the games out there. If you buy HD 4850 then you'll max out all games at higher framerates except for Metro 2033, i'm not so sure about that game.

Reply to unknown_13

What are your full system specs?(prosscesor/mobo/ram)
Crysis and other more demanding games also rely alot on the type of prossesing power your CPU can deliever.

What do you mean you will not upgrade in 2011?Are you purchasing this card now or next year?

Out of those you've listed i still think the 5670 is a good choice. It has DX11 when you need it.And you wouldn't have to upgrade your PSU.Also Crysis doesn't support DX11 yet, although it isn't much of an FPS drop when DX11 is enabled. The most powerful card out of those you've listed would be the 4850.

Reply to purple stank

I will buy hd 4850 or hd 5670 within 2 days,i mean that after purchasing one of these i will upgrade card until 2011's end,and i have following pc right now:
Intel Pentium E5200 @3.33ghz
Corsair xms2 2gb 800mhz ddr2
Msi G31-P21
Windows 7 32bit.
and i was talking about crysis 2 which is coming in 3 months,is hd 5670 really that good enough in dx11?

Not really, DX11 is almost useless on low end cards like the HD 5670 and the HD 5700 series. It'll drop performance greatly, thus you should use DX11 only on cards starting with HD 5800 series, GTX460 and above.

Will you upgrade your PSU and what kind of PSU brands do you have in your contry??
And your OC'ed E5200 won't bottleneck any of those cards.

yeah i am going to get 400+watts psu for sure, there are many psu brands available however i think i would go with 430w Mad Dog Psu,it has all connectors and is of cool blue steel.and then i think that directx11 isnt mature yet not even directx10,games are still being coded in dx9,so i think hd 4850 is way to go right!
