Hi,
I've been asked to buy a large capacity (1GB or 2GB) Compact Flash card
for a family member who has a Canon S70. While I know that speed is
likely to be important for such a large capacity card with a 7MP camera
I'm unsure whether it's worth paying extra for either a Lexar 80x,
Sandisk Ultra II or Sandisk Extreme III card over, say, a Kingston Elite
Pro.
The 2GB Kingston is approx £90 whereas the alternatives are more like
£130-£140 minimum.
What I'm interested in is whether the speed of the Canon S70 is likely
to limit (or even completely negate) the potential speed benefit of the
Lexar and Sandisk cards mentioned above.
FWIW, I don't think the recipient's computer is likely to benefit from
increased download speed as it's unlikely to have USB2.0 or firewire
built-in.
I've looked at Rob Galbraith's CF card database but it only covers CF
card performance in Digital SLRs and I'm unsure as to whether I can
extrapolate the likely speed of the Canon S70 from those of the Canon
DSLRs listed.
