More about ddr3 mobo
  1. Yes they are compatible. On the H61 and 1155 socket in general is better to have the memory at 1.5V Voltage , because if is higher you can burn the memory controller from CPU. You can put 1.6V , 1.65V RAM but you must to set the voltage from BIOS at 1.5V. There is RAM at 1.35V those are good almost on every motherboards.
  2. will this memory be compatible with this motherboard?

OK, yes it is compatible with this mobo.

    Mobo Memory Standard: DDR3 1066 / 1333
The RAM is DDR3 1600 - so it will downclock theRAM to 1333MHz to be compatible.

also can you please educate me on which ram would be compatible with certain mobo, aside from ddr and pin numbers. does the chipset (H61 etc) matters when choosing a ram?

What matters, is the voltage, for the i7 - i5 it should be 1.5V and 1333MHz.
But u can OC the RAM, but your H61 is not a good for OC, Z68 or P67 is the right for the job. So check the specs for the CPU and check the mobo as well.
