Hi guys,

I have overclocked my 955 to 4ghz, and it runs completely stable. What it doesnt do however is idle. At all. So its at the full 1.4v all the time and it annoys me that im wasting a fair bit of electricity for no reason. I have got C&Q enabled, so there is nothing wrong in the bios, Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 is my mobo by the way. Any suggestions/ideas as to why?

Cheers,

if your using win 7 then go into your power options and set the min cpu in there to 5% or there abouts . also check the bios and see if you have c1 halt state if its disabled turn it on. also you may want to install cool and quiet app. you get it from your motherboard manufacturer if its available for your system.

ive worked it out: when the multiplier goes above 18.5, idling stops and full voltage goes on all the time. I just dropped the multiplier and raised the FSB and now have it at 4ghz stable and idling when not in use. Cheers anyway though
