Well case wise I think the best/only real option is a CM 690II for $80. Your reqs are actually more limiting that you think. You do know you can get a case with LEDS and just not hook em up right?

G Skill 4gb kit. Any of their ddr3 1333 kits will work. Try 1.5v cas 8 or lower. Can consider grabbing 2 since RAM is so cheap right now.

spinpoint f3 1tb.

XFX 750W or 650w. Either will work.

Cheap $18 sata one off newegg

SB isn't really back yet, so sure, amd is fine.
Phenom II x4 955 and ASUS EVO $227

should all add up to ~$550 with 4gb of ram and the xfx 650.
Suppose you could throw in an ssd with the money left over.

The person that this is for just made clean to me they didnt want a window, also a 955 wont bottleneck a gtx 580 at res of 1920x1080 will it?

955 won't be a bottleneck.
However, I'm not a big fan of buying a PC ATM since both am3 and 1156 are dead and 1155 (SB) isn't back yet.

SB is actually very competitive in the $100-$150 range

If your guy doesn't mind LED's or your fine not connecting them, then just upgrade the case to the CM 690II advanced.

Yea, some might say its a bad time to build but then again, most people dont need the newest and best techonolgy like the 2500k-2600ks. They seem to be overkill for alot of things.
