Okay, so i'm planning to start building my first PC tomorrow after i get home from work. I just have some last minute questions to ask you guys.

-I'm not planning on OCing my 2500k just yet. So with that in mind, i was looking for the thermal paste that comes with the CPU and noticed that there's already some paste applied to the bottom of the heat sink. Should i add more, or is this enough?

-Does it matter what direction the PSU fan is facing? (internet seems to be divided).

-Once i have the computer up and running, how do i check temperatures of the CPU, GPU, etc..?

-How much space should i partition off for the OS on my HDD? In case i have to re-install Windows 7, i don't want to lose my files.

Anyway, that's about it for now.

Hello From_Canada;

The stock cooler comes with the correct amount of thermal compound.
Fan up. I prefer not to have the bottom mounted PSU drawing up air (and contaminants) from outside. Especially a floor mounted case.
50GB OS partition is plenty.

Temp check and testing. See step 10 in the build guide:

Here is a Step-by-Step Guide to Building a PC

Look over the forum's "System won't boot" checklist to see some of the common build errors and how to avoid them.

-> The usual advice; read the manual / install guide; look at the parts, read the manual again and if everything makes sense and looks right - then go ahead with the install.

While you're waiting you can download the online version of the motherboard manual and start getting familiar with it. Same for the other parts you want to order if they have install guides or manuals available.
