1394 adpter only..cant connect to internet..help please

when i open network adapter in device manager it only show 1394 net adapter,
theres no local area connection on my network option..
how can i connect to internet? do i need to install or buy something? please help..

1394 is not your network adapter (I think its Firewire).

If you can see a network adapter (ethernet socket) on the computer then probably all that's missing is a driver.

Is there nothing yellow flagged in Device Manager ?

If you are stumped it might be simplest to just go and buy a new adapter (they are pretty cheap). For a laptop PCMCIA or USB type -- desktop USB or PCI.
