MSI nx8600GTS fan randomly shuts off

I was making a cheap computer for my girl to play sims 3 on and the vid card fan ramdomly shuts off. its started out doing this when she was playing and now it just does it randomly. the gpu heats up to about 110 degrees and then shuts off. I have an ocz600sxs psu. thanks for your help

you can get MSI Afterburner software that allows you to monitor fan speeds and set profiles for higher fan speeds. Maybe try that.

If the card has simply failed (it IS an old one...) such that Afterburner can't help, you can replace it. A GT240, HD4670, or HD5570 would be $65 or less and offer superior performance.
