Hi,
Recently I noticed that I only get 2 hrs 30min of battery life. So I thought about disabling one of the cores to save battery and I did it. But then I noticed some problems such as my cpu being reported by core temp to be at 55-65 C. I also noticed that the cpu is running at 2.80 ghz 70% of the time. However on the resource monitor it says the frequency is 100% all the time and the cpu Z reports the cpu to be running at 3 ghz all the time. I am confused by all the conflicting info. I don't know which to believe.
My system specs are
Hp dv7, win 7
Intel i5 580m @2.66 ghz turbo to 3.33 ghz
6 gb ram
500gb HDD

This is part of what cpu Z says:

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY LAPTOP? :pfff:
THANKYOU !!!!

Solution
seems like different resources are not in agreement. Have you checked out the BIOS? If the temps are below 70 degrees centigrade, you should be fine. Also, open task manager and see if the CPU thread report is at 100% If so, you may be maxing out your CPU potential. What programs do you run with the laptop?
