Can I use existing parts

Looking to use existing gateway dx4710 parts, mobo is dead(processor okay) Was looking to use the gateway case which fit a micro atx mobo(9.6x9.6). also looking to reuse the dvd labelflash drive power supply(300W) and possibly the hard drives(just enough to get them transferred to an external hd)had existing ram of 6gb. Could I do this or just do a whole makeover. didn't want anything top of the line, but was thinking of the I3 or I5 processor, with 1TB HDD and want OS windows7. Basic use is for photos/videos/music very little gaming, web surfing and emails and general office and student work. Was looking between $500-$600 if possible. Never did this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
