Web surfing 3/10/2011...experienced lock-up (first time since new build on 3/3/2011). Upon restart my system took an extremely long time to boot. I no longer have my desktop theme and there are no longer any themes in my control panel settings. I have run avast and there are no threats found.

System info: pentium E6700 dual core 3.2ghz, 2 gig ram(ddr2), Asus P5kPL-AM/PS MB, XFX8400 GS graphics card.

History: Build date 3/3/11
xfx graphics card 3/4/11
avast antivirus 3/4/11
internet explorer 9 canidate 3/6/11

updates: various including 5 security updates 3/4/11
service pack 3/6/11
various 3/7/11 - 3/9/11
update KB2505438 3/10/11

Arter the extremely long boot (I'm talking 10 mins or so, usually about 45 seconds) All seems to be working well. Internet still stable and fast. I did a little research on the last update and it seems it is supposed to resolve slow start up problems between windows 7 and explorer 9 canidate. Thanks in advance as any help would be appreciated.

Well I am a bit stumpped. I was going to restore my system back to before the last update was in stalled. I did not see the last update as a restore point so I decide to check out some other things first. Surprisingly all my desktop themes are bach under the control panel settings. I then tried a reboot and everything worked fine as if nothing ever happened. Weel guess I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. All for now.
