2 gtx460's on the athlon II is a waste, you wont see much diff in performance with 1 gtx460. you would be better off with a faster phenom II x4 cpu and get just a single graphics card, maye gtx460 or 470. a 650w PSU from antec, seasonic, corsair is what you want. Seriously, you dont want a cheap PSU running 2 gtx460's in SLI...unless your a moron. this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... is the cheapest psu you could get that is also good quality. if you get something cheap like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... your computer will blow up.

alright. for now I will just go with an Athlon ii x4 640 and a single gtx 460 hawk.

Probably I will upgrade it to a phenom II x6 with another gtx 460 hawk to run them in SLI...

and I want a good PSU because I will not be upgrading the PSU then. I will buy it now itself. Please suggest me a good PSU (a budget one if you can).

Antec EA or TP series if not over clocking, SG or CP series if ya are.
Corsair TX series if not over clocking, HX series if ya are.

I would say that Antec 650watt is your best bet.High quality and it's more than capable of powering x2 460's .

Thats really cheap too for something that good,i paid same amount for my seasonic 520 watt.

Just get a 470. Two gtx 460 on a Athlon ii? No. Buy one gtx 470 and then get a better PSU. If you have the money, maybe a better CPU and then two GTX 460s. But do you really need that much power? The PSU is the most important thing on a machine. If you cheap out on a PSU your whole computer might break. GTX 470s are strong. Get a good PSU to top that all off and your set. Hope I helped. ;)

irfan,

My Antec EA650 was/is great.
I recently moved to a corsair hx580 because I am planning to run a sli setup and because my wife makes more $$ than I do
I highly recommend the Antec Earthwatts, it will serve you well.

I think both of them would not be sufficient.

the 1st one is just a 600w psu and the second one only has 2 pci-e connectors and 3 molex (need 4 molex to power another gtx 460 right)!!!!

and HostileDonut suggested me to go with a GTX 470 (it runs too hot. well that's the bad news...If I overclock then probably that thing would burn)

doesn't the gtx 460 hawk perform as good as the GTX 470 (cooler and price efficient)

I think a pair of 6850's or 6870's would serve you better,in my opinion.Their less on power and when paired their performance is unmatched by the 460.

I can't go for a HD 6850 or a HD 6870. I have an SLI motherboard that I bought it last month.

so I want an NVIDIA card, not an ATI card.

ok, I will get a corsair GS 700w psu :pfff:  . Its better to spend the money on a good PSU rather than having a crappy one.

but please tell me if I have to go for a MSI GTX 460 Hawk (runs cooler and equal to a 470) or a Zotac GTX 470 (runs hotter).

Iam planning to SLI the cards in future.

A AMD card should work in a SLI mobo.

Well is all depends on what your using them for and what games you'll be playing. It would be more accurate if you can list the games you play and or going to play, also your monitors resoultion...

Well, dont worry about the games because I would be playing all the latest games (including gta 4, crysis and metro 2033).

My resolution would be 1680*1050.

Ohhh, Get something like a hd69xx, hd5870 or a gtx 480 or 570-580 then. Then use the xtra $$$ for a nice PSU.

Yeah, a gtx560 would probably be the new 470. Get that and a really nice PSU and then SLI in the future.
