Upgrading my rig, need serious recommendation

Here's the situation,
Right now i have:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 1333 2.83Ghz OC @ 3.57Ghz (1666x8.5)
4Gb DDR3 1333 Unlink 7-7-7-18-1T
2x XFX 8800 Ultra SLI and 1x 8800GTX 768mb PhysX card.

Now i want to upgrade to:
Intel Core i7 950
12Gb DDR3 1600
Graphic Card = ????

Thats where my prob is.
Now i have a choice between ATI 6870 or Nvidia GTX470
of course its gonna be 2 of thoses for SLI/Crossfire
i have 850W for the PSU

So my questions is... since i have decent GPU cards but only DirectX10, is it worth it yet to upgrade my GPUs or keep it for a while until something more powerfull come out.
The thing is, my cards are 768 mb 384bits
and the 470 1280Mb @ 320 bits and the 6870 is 1Gb @ 256bits
The only 384bits card out there is the GTX480 or GTX580 wich i cant afford yet.

I saw alot of benchmark that shows 2-8800 Ultra SLI are better than one GTX460 in some DirectX 10 games...
of course, there's some DirectX11 games now but.. is it really worth the $$$ to upgrade my GPUs... Am i gonna see better results or its gonna be almost the same? Because right now, all the DirectX 10 games i play, i have at least 55-60fps @ 1920x1080. Im connected HDMI on a JVC 42inch LCD Full HD

i cant afford the NVidia 500 series GPUs yet or the ATI 6970 or bigger.

The Games i play are more First Person Shooter and Racing Games and i would like to keep PhysX so i guess i prefer NVidia but aslong its good result, i might switch to ATI.

Thank you for all your recommendations.

Thats a DirectX11 Game so its not that great.. i mean i cant use DirectX11 settings.. i have a bit of frame drop compare to CODMW2 but again its a DirectX11 game.

You can set BFBC2 to any DX level that you want 9/10/11.BFBC2 is very demanding and puts CPU and GPU to their limit.

Are you planning on crossfire/sli in the future?

I'm more of an ATI type so i would only reccomend ATI cards but...If your planning on crossfireing go with a 6870 they perform very well when crossfired.I can't say much for Nvidia cards but i would guess a gtx460 SLI would work well i think you could max out games with SLI.Maybe even a 470

Yes im wanna stay with SLI/Crossfire.. I know ATI are great right now in the 68XX Series and a bit cheaper to buy but i love PhysX and i was thinking keeping one 8800 Ultra for the PhysX card.. I only play BFBC2 one time with my rig and i just did the first level.. the other times i played it, it was at my friend with a GTX470 (only 1 card) and it was kinda ok so i bet with 2-GTX470, it might rock! but is it really worth +400$ to buy 2 of thoses.. im just scared to realize that i wont have any better frame rate and spend money for nothing.. damn i wish we can try thoses GPUs before buying it lol

You will see a very large performance gain over your 8800gt's with a 470 but if it's worth the money is up to u.

If you plan on playing more games like BFBC2(more dmeanding games) then i would say go ahead and upgrade to a 470/6870.

Here's a review of the 470/480
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-470-480-revie...

The 6870 is a little faster if not equal to the 5850.

I would reccomend going with a 6870 and then later crossfiring.Their performance is really good when it comes to crossfiring.I own a 6870 and it's great, maxiing out BFBC2 no AA tho and get 50+FPS.Crossfiring with 6870's i'm sure would be a gamers delight.

Try going to a fry's if theirs one around you.I'm sure if you ask someone in the computer section about trying out a graphics card they might let you try it out.

He dosen't have wimpy 8800GT's he has ULTRAS.

Dude, don't upgrade your Ultra unless you can even tell the difference from a Direct X11 rendered game. Visually, the difference is really miniscule.

EDIT: You paid ALOT of money for those Ultras so you could futureproof, so don't bail out on them just because of a new DirectX which has very small visual difference.

All right.. thats the kind of anwser i was looking for!! lol... thx TheTrueGamer :D  (sorry got the wrong name at first lol)
I didnt paid much at that time, got a deal on Tigerdirect.ca for 250$ each but my 8800GTX i spend 500$ on it cause it was just out when i bought it.
Thats what i tought about DirectX11.. it might dont have alot a difference yet.. maybe when we reach DirectX12 or higher.. maybe it will be the time to upgrade.
Again, thx alot for all ur recommendation! ;)

No problem really.. its just a bit slower in frame rates than CODMW2 i might get about between 30 and 40fps @ 1920x1080 with all details @ max

Sounds to me like your cards are doing fine. You could attemp to overclock them a bit to get a little more out of them. DX11 isn't all that awesome, IMO the biggest thing it adds right now is better multithreading to reduce CPU bottlenecks, and hopefully tesslation will be better implemented in the future. For now tho, it sounds to me like you're still doing good with the Ultras.
