HI,
could anybody please help me with a problem i have with my laptop.when
i boot the laptop up a 2inch white banner appears 3/4 of the way up
the screen and it stays on.i can just about see things through the
said area.has the screen blown or is it an easy problem to get
fixed.i plugged another screen into the back of the laptop and the
screen image was perfect.any help with this would be greatly
appreciated

That would seem to indicate that there is a problem with, either the display
or with the flat cable that comes to it from the motherboard.
I would bet on the cable. Usually they run thru the notebook's hinges and
often break from bending back and forth.
Without knowing the make or model, I would suggest replacing the cable
first.
