First time build need help

this is my first pc build and im stuck with a few questions. first of all i purchased a gigabyte ga-870a-ud3 motherboard and i had a previous power supply im reusing and it is a dynex dx-400wps. the mother board has a 8point female connection that from what i can figure out is for a power supply connection, this dynex power supply doesnt have the same 8 prong connection but has a 6 and 4, in the manual for the motherboard i believe i saw it saw something about being able to put the 4 prong connection into half of the 8 on the motherboard. please help its my last step to fire up my first bbuild ever!

Hello marcd455;

You can use the 4pin CPU aux power connector from your PSU in that 8pin power socket near the CPU.

There should only be ONE way the aux power connector can be plugged into that 8 pin socket.
